HYDRAULIC series of oils are premium performance anti-wear hydraulic oils. They are blended from quality paraffinic mineral oil for its stability and high natural Viscosity Index, which gives these oils their ability to maintain their viscosity over a relatively wide range of operating temperatures. All grades of HYDRAULIC oils are fortified with additives to provide the best possible wear-protection and service life.

Hydraulic oil performance is defined in three ways:

•    Ability to protect hydraulic pumps and motors from wear damage, particularly at the high operating pressures often used in modern hydraulic systems.
•    Ability to resist deterioration, particularly oxidation, which is caused by the effect of air on the oil and thermal degradation, caused by the effect of heat.
•    Ability to resist the harmful effects of water contamination, which can hydrolyze additives, accelerates oxidation, promote sludge formation and cause filters to plug.

HYDRAULIC OILS provide superior performance in all critical areas as proven by industry standard tests, many of them developed by the pump manufacturers themselves.

HYDRAULIC oils are available dyed red or blue for easy identification. Please contact your sales representative for list of dyed products.

HYDRAULIC oils are suitable for use with all types of hydraulic pumps and motors, even at pressures as high as 5,000 psi (350 Bar). They are NOT recommended for use with those pumps that contain silver-plated parts. For these applications, use Irving D&E oils.

HYDRAULIC LOW POUR oils are high performance multi-grade anti-wear hydraulic oils. They offer the same wear and corrosion protection as traditional hydraulic oils but operate over a wider range of operating temperatures. The usefulness of hydraulic oil is limited by minimum and maximum allowable temperatures. Low temperatures will cause hydraulic oils to thicken. If the temperature is too low, the oil will become so thick that it will be unable to feed the pump fast enough causing noise and wear damage. With high temperatures oils become thinner, reducing the thickness of the film between moving parts of the machine. If the temperature is too high, the oil becomes too thin to keep moving surfaces separated, increasing friction and wear.
HYDRAULIC LOW POUR oils are true multi-grade hydraulic oils specially formulated to stand up to the high-shear environment of hydraulic pumps and motors without losing their multi-grade nature. For a given grade, this oil allows lower start-up temperature and higher operating temperatures than the comparable single grade hydraulic oil. This wider operating temperature range provides improved productivity, better operational flexibility and the possibility of using one grade of hydraulic oil year round. These oils are particularly suited for use in mobile machinery and fixed machinery located primarily outdoors.

HYDRAULIC HP is a high performance, multi-grade, anti-wear, synthetic hydraulic fluid developed to provide extended service life and year round performance. The synthetic base oil and superior additive chemistry offers advanced wear, corrosion protection and doubles the service life compared to typical hydraulic fluids. *

Modern hydraulic system designs utilize smaller fluid reservoirs placing an even greater demand on the hydraulic fluid. Faster cycle times mean the fluid operates at higher temperatures with a greater foaming tendency which in turn causes thermal stress and cavitation damage. Thermal stability and the ability to release air are critical to the durability of these new systems.

HYDRAULIC HP uses synthetic base oils to provide the ideal building blocks for creating a hydraulic product with superior capabilities. This solid foundation offers enhanced oxidative thermal stability for better fluid and equipment durability.

HYDRAULIC SAFETY FLUIDS are non-explosive hydraulic fluids with a high degree of fire resistance, for use where there are potential sources of ignition. These fluids have been formulated to resist combustion while providing excellent wear, corrosion and rust protection. Note: these fluids should not be thought of as “nonflammable” but more correctly, fire-resistant.

HYDRAULIC SAFETY FLUID Water Glycol is a water-glycol mix that can be used at temperatures as low as -40ºC and as high as 50ºC. At higher temperatures, evaporation of the water phase will cause the fluid to thicken rapidly. This can be countered by frequent monitoring and adding de-ionized water as necessary. It is non-toxic and can be disposed of very easily however you should always adhere to local regulations. It has excellent lubricity and provides good wear protection for maximum pump life as long as boundary conditions are avoided. Its resistance to oxidation and its stability give the fluid a long life. It can be filtered, which is essential to pump life, using most media except Fuller’s Earth. It is compatible with all common seal materials however it will react with certain metals and care should be taken to ensure the system and its filters do not have components that use Zinc, Lead or Aluminum Unanodised.

BIO-HYDRAULIC oil was specifically designed for any hydraulic system working in an environmentally sensitive area. Such areas dictate the use of oil where spills and leaks must have the least possible effect on animal, plant and water. Irving Bio-Hydraulic uses special biodegradable vegetable and synthetic base oils coupled with low toxicity additives. Choose this environmentally safe product without sacrificing the levels of performance that industrial customers require from their hydraulic oils.

BIO-HYDRAULIC’S base oil mix has excellent stability with enhanced oxidation resistance due to a special low-toxicity additive. It was deemed particularly important that this oil provide the same wear-protection as premium mineral based hydraulic oils which were achieved without the use of zinc-containing components.

BIO-HYDRAULIC oil meets or exceeds all the major pump manufacturer’s toughest fluid requirements. These include but are not limited to; fluid life, wear prevention, hydrolytic stability, filterability, foam resistance, water separation, corrosion and rust prevention.

BIO-HYDRAULIC oil has the wide operating temperature range typical of a multi-graded mineral oil. Although it has a nominal ISO* grade of 46, it offers the low-temperature fluidity of an ISO 32 grade with the high temperature viscosity of an ISO 100 grade. Unlike some multi-grade mineral oils, Bio Hydraulic will retain the aforementioned characteristics in a high-shear environment. Biodegradability of the oil has been tested according to two accepted standards with toxicity levels well below current recommended limits.

Tractor Hydraulic Fluid is a specially formulated product for use in transmissions, final-drives, wet brakes and any farm tractors or construction equipment that uses a common fluid reservoir.  These special systems call for a combination lubricant and power transmission fluid.

Tractor Hydraulic Fluid’s characteristics are unique since the same fluid must lubricate the transmission final drive, actuate hydraulic type disc brakes but also services operation to power steering units, power take-offs, implements and attachments.
