Irving HYDRAULIC series are premium performance anti-wear (AW) HYDRAULIC oils. They are blended from quality paraffinic mineral oil for its stability and high natural Viscosity Index (VI), which gives these oils their ability to maintain their viscosity over a relatively wide range of temperatures. All grades of Irving HYDRAULIC oils are fortified with additives to provide the best possible wearprotection and service life.

HYDRAULIC oil performance is defined in three ways:

  • Ability to protect HYDRAULIC pumps and motors from wear damage, particularly at the high operating pressures often used in modern HYDRAULIC systems.
  • Ability to resist deterioration, particularly oxidation, which is caused by the effect of air on the oil, and thermal degradation, caused by the effect of heat.
  • Ability to resist the harmful effects of water contamination, which can hydrolyze additives, accelerate oxidation, promote sludge formation and cause filters to plug.

 

Industry standard tests, many of them developed by the pump manufacturers themselves, have been used to show that Irving HYDRAULIC oils provide superior performance in all critical areas.

Irving HYDRAULIC oils are available dyed red or blue for easy identification. Please contact sales representative for list of dyed products.

Irving HYDRAULIC oils are suitable for use with all types of HYDRAULIC pumps and motors, even at pressures as high as 5,000 psi (350 Bar). They are NOT recommended for use with those pumps that contain silver-plated parts. For these applications, use Irving D&E oils.

BIO-HYDRAULIC is an environmentally friendly fluid designed for all hydraulic systems working in sensitive areas where spills and leaks must have the least possible effect on animal and plant life. This has been achieved by using special biodegradable vegetable and synthetic base oils and by choosing additives with low toxicity, all without sacrificing the levels of performance that industrial customers require from their hydraulic oils.

The base oil mix has excellent stability and its oxidation resistance is enhanced with a special low-toxicity additive. It was judged to be particularly important that this fluid provide wear-prevention ability at least as good as premium mineral based hydraulic oil, and this has been achieved without the use of toxic zinc-containing components.

BIO-HYDRAULICoil meets or exceeds all the major pump manufacturers’ toughest fluid requirements: These demonstrate fluid life, wear prevention, hydrolytic stability, filterability, foam resistance, water separation and rust prevention — all important characteristics for high performance, top-quality hydraulic fluid.

BIO-HYDRAULICoil has the wide operating temperature range typical of a multi-graded mineral oil. Although it has a nominal ISO* grade of 46, it offers the low-temperature fluidity of an ISO 32 grade and the high temperature viscosity of an ISO 100 grade. Furthermore, this product will retain these characteristics, unlike some multi-graded mineral oils, in the high-shear environment of a typical hydraulic system. Biodegradability of the whole fluid has been tested according to two accepted standards, and toxicity is well below the current recommended limits.

Irving HYDRAULIC LP oils are high performance multi-grade anti-wear hydraulic oils. They offer the same wear and corrosion protection as Irving HYDRAULIC oils and they are effective over wider operating temperature ranges than regular hydraulic oils.

The usefulness of hydraulic oil is limited by minimum and maximum allowable temperatures. Low temperatures will cause hydraulic oils to thicken. If the temperature is too low, the oil will become so thick that it will be unable to feed the pump fast enough and the pump will starve, causing noise and wear damage. At high temperatures oils become thinner, reducing the thickness of the film between moving parts of the machine. If the temperature is too high, the oil becomes too thin to keep moving surfaces separated, increasing friction and wear.

Irving HYDRAULIC LP oils are true multi-grade hydraulic oils specially formulated to stand up to the high-shear environment of hydraulic pumps and motors without losing their multi-grade nature, unlike less stable multi-grade hydraulic oils. For a given grade, HYDRAULIC LP allows lower start-up temperature and higher operating temperature than the comparable single grade hydraulic oil. This wider operating temperature range provides better productivity, better operational flexibility and the possibility of using one grade of HYDRAULIC LP year round instead of having to change grades of regular hydraulic oil with the seasons. These oils, then, are particularly suited to use in mobile machinery, and fixed machinery in outside locations.

Irving HYDRAULIC LP oils are suitable for use with all types of hydraulic pumps and motors, even at pressures as high as 5,000 psi (350 Bar). They are NOT recommended for use with those pumps that contain silver-plated parts. Instead, use Irving D&E.

HYDRAULIC HP is a high performance multi-grade anti-wear synthetic hydraulic fluid developed to provide extended service life and year round performance. The synthetic base oil and superior additive chemistry offers advanced wear, corrosion protection and double the service life compared to typical hydraulic fluids.

Modern hydraulic system designs utilize smaller fluid reservoirs placing an even greater demand on the hydraulic fluid. Faster cycle times mean the fluid is operates at higher temperatures and a greater foaming tendency, causing thermal stress and cavitation damage. Thermal stability and the ability to release air are critical to durability of these new systems.

Synthetic base oils provide the ideal building block for creating a hydraulic product with superior capabilities. This solid foundation offers enhanced oxidative thermal stability for better fluid and equipment durability. Where a typical mineral based hydraulic fluid offers a typical 2,500 – 4,000 hour oxidation life, HYDRAULIC HP performs to over 8,000 hours thereby reducing total fluid consumption and extending maintenance intervals without sacrificing reliability.

Tractor Hydraulic Fluid (THF) is specially formulated for use in transmissions, final drives, wet brakes and hydraulic systems of farm tractors and construction equipment that use a common fluid reservoir and that call for a combination lubricant and power transmission fluid.

The characteristics of this fluid are unique since the same fluid must lubricate the transmission and final drive, actuate hydraulic type disc brakes which are submerged in oil, and serve as a hydraulic fluid to operate power steering units, power take-offs, implements and attachments. Further, Irving THF has been particularly designed as a year-round multigrade fluid. It offers low temperature fluidity, which is helpful to construction equipment that must work in winter, as well as high temperature protection. It exceeds the viscosity requirements of both John Deere JDM-J20C and JDM-J20D specifications in one fluid. THF is also available in summer (3-season) and winter grades.

Irving THF qualifies for Denison HF-1 and HF-2 performance and passes tests for Eaton Hydraulics and Vickers. It passes ASTM* D-2882 High Pressure Vane Pump Wear test with less than 25 mg of steel weight loss. Irving THF is compatible with manufacturers’ fluids and competitors’ fluids of this type. TRANSflo is a premium product specially formulated for use in automatic transmissions manufactured in 2005 and earlier General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler vehicles requiring Dexron®, II, III (GM) and Mercon® (FORD) fluid.

TRANSflo provides excellent low temperature fluidity as well as good viscosity at temperatures in excess of 149°C for bearing and gear lubrication. TRANSflo has excellent corrosion and foam prevention properties. It will not cause excessive swelling or shrinking of seals, nor cause them to become unduly hard or soft. It also has excellent resistance to oxidation, preventing varnish and gum deposits from forming on sensitive transmission parts even after long periods at high temperatures.

Irving TRANSflo meets specifications by Allison as a type C-4 fluid, and it can also be used in Ford model C-6 automatic transmissions built on or after 1977, and with all Ford automatic transmissions built on or after 1980. It can also be used in some power steering systems as well as hydro-static and power-shift transmissions where this type of oil is recommended.

Irving TRANSflo is also popular as a hydraulic fluid because of its very wide operating temperature range, excellent low temperature fluidity and red colour, which makes tank levels and leaks easy to see. TRANSflo is a true multi-graded fluid and therefore can replace hydraulic oils of standard grades 15, 22, 32 and 46.

Irving TRANSFLo can also be used to replace Dexron® and Type A, Suffix A fluids, as well as Toyota (Type T), Mitsubishi and Nissan (NissanMatic D) fluids.

Not recommended for Ford transmissions requiring specific "Type F" or Mercon® V or GM Dexron® VI.

TRANSflo TO-4 is a premium transmission fluid specially formulated to meet the exacting requirements of Caterpillar's latest performance specification, TO-4 (Transmission Oil, level 4).

TRANSflo TO-4 is a high performance transmission oil using high-quality paraffinic base stocks with the very latest additive technology specially developed for use in Caterpillar drive trains. It satisfies the tough service needs of powershift transmissions, differentials and final drives. It is available in three SAE* grades that can be matched to any climatic conditions.

Caterpillar recommends TO-4 type fluids in all new and rebuilt drive-train components. Irving TRANSflo TO-4 can be used wherever Caterpillar recommends its ownbrand TDTO "or equivalent".

NOTE: Unlike the previous TO-2 specification, which allowed engine oils to be used in Caterpillar drive train components, TO-4 oils are designed for use in the drive train ONLY and must NOT be used in the engine.
