Irving COMPRESSOR OILS are specially made for the proper lubrication of a wide variety of air compressor types. The combination of top quality mineral base oils and special additives provides long oil and compressor life even in the toughest conditions.

Irving COMPRESSOR OILS provide excellent wear protection without the use of zinc-based additives. This is an advantage with some screw-type compressors where the zinc can encourage deposits on the housing wall. Irving COMPRESSOR OILS do not contain the dispersants typically found in engine oils and so show very little tendency to foam or form emulsions when water is present.

Irving COMPRESSOR OILS have excellent resistance to oxidation and the formation of deposits even when working at discharge temperatures as high as 90ºC. Under more normal conditions drain intervals of 1000 hours, or more, are possible. To maximize oil drain interval, consider using Irving Oil’s In-Service Oil Analysis program.

For significantly longer drain intervals, up to 9,000 hours, consider using Irving SYN COMPRESSOR OILS.

Irving COMPRESSOR OILS simplify the choice of lubricant where various types of air compressor are in service, including piston, vane, screw, scroll and lobe compressors. They are not suitable for use where gases other than air are being compressed.

Irving SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR oils are 100% synthetic base lubricants specially blended for the proper lubrication of all kinds of compressors over extremely long service intervals.

The synthetic base oils used offer many advantages over more traditional mineral base oils. They have very low pour points yet also have great resistance to high heat, giving long life and stable viscosity, low volatility for less make-up oil in service, and little tendancy to form deposits which means cleaner compressors, coolers and valves.

The greatly extended life of synthetic fluid reduces downtime and manpower needed for oil changes and significantly reduces the amount of waste oil generated. Many users have also reported reductions in operating temperatures and energy consumption when compared to mineral oils.

In general, Irving SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR oils should not be mixed with other types of compressor oils. Their high natural detergency also will tend to clean dirty compressors. When changing from another type of fluid to Irving SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR oils, the old oil must be drained while it is hot and all parts inspected for deposits; clean or replace as needed. Low spots in lines should be drained by disconnecting them. Lubricators should be drained and refilled with Irving SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR oil but feed rates need not be altered. Reservoirs should be wiped clean and filters cleaned or replaced. When first running on the new fluid, check filters every shift and replace them if they become plugged. Once established, SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR fluids will keep compressors running clean and trouble-free for many thousands of hours.
